Inuit Cultural Orientations

For Pirurvik, cultural orientation brings with it many different meanings and levels. At its simplest form, a cultural orientation is an introduction to Inuit life and practices including our language, our history and our individual experiences.

At another level, our programs are designed at various levels to expose and enlighten the pointsof cultural difference. For many non-Inuit they may never have had a chance to ask questions about their cultural experiences in a safe,non-confrontational environment. For Inuit, these sessions can serve as anopportunity to explore our origins and look to moving forward from asource of strength.

Types of programs:

Pirurvik's cultural orientation programs are separated into two different approaches. Introductory orientations for visitors or new comers and more involved 'cross cultural explorations' that delve more thoroughly into cultural issues and life in Nunavut.  These programs are customized to the group and are only delivered upon request.
